Wedding in Hvar!

My long overdue wrap up of our holiday in July (epps, how is it almost the end of August already!).

We were in Hvar for a friend's wedding. It has changed slightly since we were last there in 2009. Maybe because I'm getting older, but it seems much more like a party island then it did before. We were catching up with friends over drinks (smoothies for me, beers and cocktails for everyone else) and there was a massive spring break-like party going on in the place next to where we were sitting. It was only 5!

Some pics from the wedding. They hosted the ceremony in this lovely ruin and then we took boats to a small island off Hvar. After the reception, there was another boat to another island for some clubbing. Hubby and I took the old people boat home instead. :)

Gorgeous wedding venue!

Guess no one wanted to look in the same direction!

Reception by boat!

The Bride and Groom's James Bond-like entrance by speed boat (with flares!)

Hubby and I at the reception- Gorgeous views!

Not a proper Irish wedding until the boat is rocked!

Relaxed and Refreshed!

It's amazing how energized I can be after relaxing in the sun for 10 days. I didn't even mind reading through over 500 emails this morning for work at all!

We had a lovely lovely time in Croatia, and it seriously is one of the most beautiful places I have been with all the old town buildings and harbours. We started in Dubrovnik and then went to Mljet, Krocula, Hvar and then Split. I'll be doing a mini post on each place because they were all so different but wonderful in their own little ways.

Just one of the beautiful views!

2 weeks and counting

Only two more weeks until our next trip to Croatia. We were glamorous with our previous trip to Morocco- staying in amazing riads with sea views and living the high life, but this trip is going to be completely different.

We're traveling backpacker style... ekkks!!!! Since we're going island-hopping, we'll need to be very mobile and so the BF has restricted my packing to just whatever I can carry (ie. one small backpack), and we're going for ten days! AHHHHHH... think of all the shoes I'll have to leave behind.

I'm also a huge planner, but we're leaving the hotel/hostel choices up in the air. This may drive me mad. I've never traveled by the seat of my pants and stayed in sketchy hostels for long periods of time (except that one time in New Zealand when the hostel cost $7.00 a night, but I was only 20). The BF just recently went backpacking for a year so I assume he's got it all sorted.

Regardless of the potential eek factor, I'm looking forward to the sand and sun!

Travel Plans

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to travel somewhere, anywhere every month. So far, I’ve done well to keep my resolution and have managed to pack my bags and go for a quick overnight trip if not a full fledged vacation up to this point. However, last night I realised that I don’t have anything planned for June. Ekks!

In order to keep my resolution going, the BF kindly agreed to take me to Belfast for my birthday later this month. Whoopee! Belfast is only an hour and a half away by train. Last week, my Boston buddies went there for an overnighter and loved it. Plus everything is much cheaper up North. Shopping trip for my b-day? Lovely!

Below is my resolution on paper. I still need to make travel plans for a couple more months this year. Anyone up for a trip September and/or October?

January – Galway
February – London (Twice)
March – Prague
April – Morocco
May – London (Again!), Boston
June- Belfast
July – Achill Islands
August - Croatia
September – No plans yet :(
October- No plans yet :(
November- Boston for Thanksgiving - Not confirmed yet.
December – Cork for Christmas and India for the New Year
