{Baby Shower}

This weekend, Baby Macs and I were showered with love by our amazing friends and family with a tea party hosted at my house. My older sister planned the whole thing from NYC and didn't forget one little detail - she's amazing!

I was whisked away at 1 with some gals for pre-tea drinking before the tea party (So different then pre-drinking with cocktails before a night out, let me tell you!). When I came back 2 hours later,  my house was transformed with the most lovely decorations, flowers and delicious quiches, cakes and tea!

I loved, loved the activities that were planned and will do a separate post on them.

Get ready for photo overload. Baby Macs is sooo blessed!

One of the activities for the day.

Amazing food spread!
The gals made the sweets and the savory items were ordered from Butler's Pantry- Yum!

Tea Time!

Apparently, this is suppose to be a sheep :)

{8 months- 32 weeks}

I can't believe how fast this whole pregnancy thing is going! I've only got 8 more weeks to go which feels strangely far away, but also I can't believe it's coming so soon.

Clearly made an effort to get dolled up for this pic ;)

  • I've finally been grounded by the airlines. Hubby and I are settling in and relaxing in Dublin for the next couple of weeks. The nursery has been 90% ready for some time now, and all the baby clothes are washed and ready to go. I want to buy stuff like diapers and baby wash and organise the hospital bag, but hubby thinks we should wait so that bulky items aren't sitting around in our tiny birdhouse sized home.
  • I'm having major judgement issues. I try to squeeze into/through places that are normally fine and my poor bump keeps getting bumped.
  • We're starting our antenatal classes today. Very excited (really?) to learn about labour/midwives and how to change baby diapers (not really.)
  • I've been reading loads of books while relaxing. If you have any suggestions, please send them my way!
  • Fall TV- Love/Hate is back on RTE hurray! And we finally got Netflix (like it's 2005- woop!). We're into Breaking Bad (up to season 2) and have a list a mile long of series to watch.
  • Also American football (Go Eagles!), World series (Go Red Sox!) and football is back on. BLISS!
  • If anyone has recommendations on things to do before, we have baby I'm all ears!

The cutest/scariest thing in the world

I was lucky enough to be able to stop over in NYC during my world-wind trip through the states to see both my sisters and their partners (the one in Chicago flew to NYC). But... the best person I saw during my trip.... My little bear!

She's so adorable, no? But....she's also the SCARIEST thing ever, because meeting her for the first time was like a smack in face. She's a great baby, but babies need to be taken care of ALL THE TIME. I mean I knew this, but reality set in when I met her (and I didn't even have to feed her or change her diaper) While I'm so excited about having a baby (and have the shopping to prove it), I don't know how ready am I to be a mom. It will be such a change from having a set schedule with work to having to do whatever this little one wants. Only 9 more weeks!

30 Weeks

I can't believe I'm already 30 weeks along! I was back and forth about getting maternity pics, but decided that I would use my little sister (in exchange for a homecoming dance dress and a smoothie) for some quick pics to document the pregnancy.

Below are two of her photos. Pretty good for a 17 year old, no?

28 weeks

Traveling a very long international flight while pregnant, though not a breeze, wasn't as bad as expected. I don't normally get jet lag and thankfully, it wasn't a problem this time around either. I did get up a lot more during the flight and did loads of stretches in the aisle (like a crazy person) and got really antsy on some of the flights. I was able to stop over in NYC on my way back for 2 days, and I think that helped a lot towards not wanting to jump out of the plane!

10 more weeks to go!

6 Month Update

Epps! I can't believe we're at six months already. Time has FLOWN by.

Here's the bump in all its glory.

Hello bump!

And a front shot from a wedding I was at this weekend.

  • Thankfully, I'm feeling fine still! I'm getting a wee bit tired when walking up stairs, but I've always been tired walking up stairs so can't tell if that's because I'm pregnant or generally out of shape.
  • Speaking of staying fit, I'm still hustling to the gym every morning. While, I'm taking it a bit easier then before, I'm still going so consider that a plus. I'm still going to my weekly Pilates class as well, which I love. Also, I just signed up for a preggo yoga class. Looking forward to a good stretch this week.
  • YOUTUBE. I love you. There are loads of pregnancy workout videos (cardio, pilates, yoga etc) on there as well that I do nightly. (They also have great workout videos there in general!)
  • Not sure if it's from the tiredness or the nesting, but I've reduced my weeknight dinner outings with friends from 2-3 times a week to 1-2 times a week. I'm just more in the mood to sit at home and stretch and read then eat out. Weird.
  • The nursery! We're 65% finish, and I love it. I have to get up in the middle of the night often (so.many.bathroom.breaks), and I love peeking my head in and looking at the nursery. I'm sure it's adorable now but probably not so much in 3 months when I have to be up and in there for real in the middle of the night. Still looking for a small dresser/changing table and not really finding any I love over here.
  • Maternity clothes- So far, I've gotten a pair of leggings, a tank top and a dress. I've made do with a lot of my old clothes which strangely was really roomy and perfect for a maternity body. I'm going to visit my sister who recently had a baby so will get some maternity hand me downs. Hurray!

Nursery Inspiration

We started the process of clearing out the smallest bedroom (or as the Irish call it, the box room) several weekends ago and have made great progress on the nursery so far. Because it's such a small room, there's not much to do with it as really nothing can fit in it!

I was debating between light and airy with lots of neutrals, or going really bold and dark. Clearly, we went with bold and dark.

Get to work, hubby!

I need to pick up the little pieces to "make" the room (mirrors, linens, decor, etc) but inspiration for the room is below!

Miss Lila

One more baby post this week, then I'll get back to my regular posts complaining about the Irish weather. Yesterday, my family welcomed a new little one. How adorable is my little niece!!?!?

I'm talking my sister into enrolling her into St. Andrew's to meet the lovely new prince. Think I'll get the title of baroness or duchess?

Bright eyes!

18 weeks in Hvar

While I wish the title meant we were lounging along the Adriatic sea for 18 weeks, it's actually something more exciting! Baby Bump turned 18 weeks while we were in Hvar. HURRAY! :)

I've had a lovely little pregnancy so far with no morning sickness and minimal tiredness (except when Hubby forced me to bike ride up hills in Slovenia). Just a little update of how things are going so far.

How Far Along: 20 weeks! Half way there! Little baby is about the size of a banana. (I think it so weird that babies are compared to fruits throughout this 40 week period).

Cravings: Pretzels of all varieties (both hard and soft) both of which are hard to come by in Ireland :( Watermelons. I could eat them all day!

Weirdest Food Aversion: Chicken. I went off chicken during my first trimester and still can't look at it.

Sleep: Lots of it. Naps too in the sun on the day bed. BLISS!

Kicks: Yes! Started about two weeks ago which only I've been able to feel, but last night, Hubby may  have gotten a kick from the little one.

Gender: We find out this week!!! I'm DYING to know as I want to start shopping for clothes and nursery items.

Maternity Clothes: Kind of. I've only gained a bit of weight so all my normal clothes still fit. However, I bought some maternity stuff this past week and it's WAY more comfortable. I'm mixing and matching at the moment.

Nesting: Yes. Loads! We cleaned out and organised closets this weekend. All items have been removed from the future nursery and loads of pinning has been done. Once we find out the gender, we'll be painting the room this week or next.

Missing: Day Drinking. I went to loads of weddings and hen parties while in my first and second trimester and I don't mind not drinking at these events. Actually, I felt smug and virtuous the next day when everyone is hung -over, and I'm fresh as a daisy. I really miss day drinking though...sitting out in the sun with friends, a cocktail and some cured meats, soft cheese and oysters (all banned items)

Highlight of the week: This week's ultrasound which will tell us if we're having a boy or girl. Also, registering for Junior Infants class for the baby...That's Kindergarden for the US Folks. KINDERGARDEN! The baby isn't even born yet. Crazy!

My Little Man

I can't believe how big Baby C is getting, and I haven't even met him yet! I'm missing out on all the fun :( Only 63 more days until I get to kiss his sweet, little face.

High Five!

I love baby feet. Look at his little sock/shoes. I die.

Down to Business

My sister took baby Carson for his first trip into New York City this week. The little bugger is ready to take on Wall street already!

In Love

New pictures of Baby Carson! I swear this blog won't be all baby all the time, but he just had his first official photo shoot (at six days old), and I'm such a proud auntie! The photos are taken from the photographer's blog, you can see more pictures of the little peanut there. Below are some of my favorites.
