So... we were suppose to go away tomorrow - flying from Dublin to Tel Aviv with a lay over in London. We booked through 2 different airlines, and as it turns out the Dublin to London leg is definitely canceled as of last night.
So BF and I were in a state last night trying to decide whether we should try to get to London even though we weren't sure if the London to Tel Aviv flight was canceled. Always up for an adventure, we booked a ferry to Wales and then a train from Wales to London. Fingers crossed that when we get there our flight isn't canceled! I've been STALKING the airport & airline websites and so far it's looking ok.
Hopefully you won't hear from me for 2 weeks cause I'll be off sunning myself in the Middle East!

To pack or not to pack?
That really is the question.
This FREAKING volcano is seriously messing up my holiday plans. One minute I hear that flights are going, then I hear they are not. Some wind and rain will really relieve the situation, but Ireland has decided to be nice and sunny for once. Our flights aren't until Thursday so the weather has 2 whole days to shape up!

Our New House!
So... last week I mentioned that BF and I were making a very big life changing decision. We were back and forth about it for a couple of weeks but finally made a decision.
We're buying our own little Love-Nest! A lovely, lovely, little (teeny, tiny) Irish house. We put the deposit in this week and now must wait for the back and forth of paperwork, but pending the paperwork it will be ours soon- Fingers crossed! Want to see it??!!? Of course you do!

So cute right?!?!?! Ok...Ok... I'm kidding. This is just like a picture I would have drawn of a house I would have wanted when I was about five. Well, my five year old self apparently knew my 20-something self really well because the house we're buying actually looks like this:

How adorable is this house?!?! Do you not just LOVE the red door? When I first saw it, I fell in love. Even before we walked in I told BF that we were putting a bid on it regardless of what it looked like inside (Rash decisions? Me?). Luckily when we went inside we loved it just as much. And the piece d' resistance of the house??
The Conservatory (Imagine it with some neutral paint and um...some better furniture)and back garden!

The house hunting and buying process in Ireland though - Whew! That's a story for a couple of posts.

Out of the woods
I'm back into the real world! In the past two days I participated in a leadership/ team building program for work. The event was being hosted at the Killary adventure centre in Connemara and since I had never been to this area of Ireland before, I was really excited for a visit.
We were in luck and the weather was GORGEOUS! It's days like this when I really, really love living in Ireland- Grassy hills, amazing mountains, sparkling fjords and... SHEEP. Running, bouncing, lovable sheep everywhere!

Only in Ireland

We spent the two days doing team activities and ropes courses. The highlight climbing up a teeny tiny pole and jumping 2 meters to catch a trapeze. Amazing! The climbing part was not a problem for me (I use to climb in Boston) but the jumping part. EKKKS! How do you convince your mind to just jump off a tiny platform?
The Trapeze (Can you see it and the platform?)

The Worst swing ride EVER!

We then went through typical team building tasks and orienteering. Our final task was to build a raft out of random materials, paddle it to a designated spot to collect matches and create a fire that would hard boil an egg before the other two teams. I am proud to say my team WON! YEAH!!!
Our raft

The Winning Team (with our hard boiled egg)

However, I'm SO glad to be back home- without poor BF, who has been stuck in Paris since Thursday (I can't think of a better place to be stuck) because of the volcanic ash.

Into the Wild
I'm off on a Girl Scout type camping expedition until Friday and there is no internet connection whatsoever. Apparently mobile phone signals are rare too. How will I survive without knowing the most up to date celebrity gossip?!?!?
I'll be back soon with stories from my adventures (and hopefully no broken bones or animal attacks!)

Skittles and Sunshine
Weekend recap! We celebrated our pal M's birthday as well as our friend S's homecoming from three months of travel this past Friday night. Nothing says Happy Birthday AND welcome home like... Skittle Vodka. Yes, I realise I'm near 30 and yes I know I'm not in college any more but I don't care! The drinks were delightful.
Kev and his ladies

Skittle shots!

Fully recovered from my night out, BF and I took advantage of the sun on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we walked along the coast from Kiliney to Dalkey which was lovely and warm.
Someone's actual house (at least it seemed like it was based on what was in the windows- I'm a peeping tom!)

My most FAVORITE part of the walk... How random are the benches on the road?

Sunday, we spent the day people watching in the park and eating ice cream. We walked around Merrion Square and we found this funny chair dedicated to Dermot Morgan, also known as Father Ted - a funny Irish show produced from 1995-1998. Everyone definitely was out and about in the sun in Dublin. Everyone came into work with little red faces!

Chicken Vindaloo - Yum Yum
I was so sick of eating curry morning, noon and night while traveling in India that I have been off it for months! I finally ate Indian again for the first time since I came back tonight, and I have re-found my love... yummy!

Big Decisions
BF and I are the in process of making a VERY BIG Important Decision. We've weighed the pro's and con's, consulted with friends and family and even asked random strangers for advice and still we're not sure what we're going to do about this decision.
Sooo, for this very grown up life changing decision, I decided to checked in with my very reliable Magic Eight ball Android app last night and it said "Signs point to Yes" EKKKKKKKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stay tuned for more updates as we figure all out!

Travel Planning
To give BF some semblance of control over my life, I graciously let him plan all my travels. (I'm so kind, aren't I?) Since he spent the year traveling he has been EVERYWHERE so the trips that he plans are always to some far flung random place which is totally fine with me. Our next trip is to the Middle East, and I couldn't be more excited!
We had actually booked months ago, but I had no idea what was planned. I just hand over the credit card, but over the weekend he finalised all our plans and it sounds FAB!
- We'll be visiting Jerusalem. I was raised Catholic and have attended Catholic school all my life but I wouldn't say I'm holy (tee hee) or religious- Still I'm V excited to see the sites and the birthplace of three world religions.
-We're going to a beach resort in Israel which is supposedly the "Jersey Shore" of the middle east. Fist pump at the ready.
- We'll be camping (Bedouin style!) in the deserts of Jordan under the stars. Sound romantic, right? I have a feeling it's going to be FREEZING with scorpions but will let you know how it all goes.
- Finally, a life long dream... the PYRAMIDS in EGYPT! When I was a kid, I dreamed of becoming an Egyptologist. I canNOT freaking wait to be in Cairo.
Two more weeks and we're off. We book our trips months in advance and as it always turns out, we have work trips in the next two weeks (BF to Paris, and me to Kilary, Ireland) so it's going to be busy!

Beep Beep, Vroom Vroom
BF and I have officially signed up to take our driver's theory test! Even though I've had my license since I was 16, it's not valid in this lovely country. BF didn't get his driver's license until he was 26, and it was in America so his is also not valid.
We don't have a car and may not get one any time soon but we figured a license is probably a good thing to have. So this morning, we booked in time to take the driver's theory test. We'll then get a learner's permit and have to pass the driving test which has a 50% pass rate...ekks! I have friends who had to take it 3 times. I think we're going to have to actually sign up for driving lessons! (Plus, I've never driven a manual car so I'll need to learn somehow, right?)
I took a sample test this morning and it seems ok, but I think I'll definitely have to study as there are some differences on Irish roads. I don't think I'll have to study too hard. Below is a funny sample question.
