Wishing I was home!
My poor baby sister broke her leg last night playing soccer, and it sounds brutal! Broken shin (both the fibula and tibia!) which was clearly bent in the ambulance :(. She had surgery last night to put metal rods into it to help the healing... Poor thing! Hugs and kisses to her from across the pond ;(

Magic Mirror
I've been looking for an oval silver mirror for ages but no luck. I finally found a mirror shape that I liked at Laura Ashley this weekend but didn't love the color. However, my new best friend, spray paint came to the rescue. Ta-da!
Sunday morning:

Sunday Afternoon:

The next morning when I went to find the link to the mirror to show my sister, I realised that it's available on the website in silver. Opps!

Wedding Dress
My first dress fitting is finally booked!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!! I'm so so so excited because I think after the ring, venue, photographer (oh and BF- kidding!), the dress is one of the most important parts of the wedding for me. I have held off on trying dresses here because I want to have my sisters and mother there with me.
It's not until December 21st though (I know- so long!)

Up Down
Yesterday, BF and I went to the All-Ireland Gaelic Football final. It's like the Superbowl for Gaelic football, and his county (Cork) was one of the finalist along with County Down.
A couple of things.
1. We managed to get the tickets for face value but they were selling for around 350 Euro. I would have gladly sold my ticket for a weekend away - or um... some new clothes and/or curtains :) Alas, BF was really into it and his father also came up for it so away we went to Croke park.
2. The cheering - I'm from Philadelphia and know a thing or two about abusive sports fans (Hello Eagles football fans!), but sheesh! It was loud and raucous in the stadium. Lots and lots of cursing involved - even parents with little kids were cursing away.
3. Americans say "Let's go team x" or "Come on team X". Irish people say. "Up team x". I know weird. Even weirder the two finalists were County Cork and County Down so while BF was yelling "Up Cork", the opponents were yelling "Up Down" baa hahahahahaha... Irish peeps, you're too cute.
Anyways, despite the rain, we got good results, and Cork won!
Congratulations indeed!

House Party!
It's been super busy around the house these past couple of days, and I didn't get a chance to commemorate my first Come dine with me at my house last week. Woop! It was the first time the gals saw the place since it was redone. I believe it was my amazing craftiness and handiwork that impressed them... tee hee...
I always do Asian food and had a make your own spring roll party. It was a hit! I then had freshly baked, piping hot brownies with vanilla ice cream for dessert. I ate two portions because I have no self control when it comes to ice cream. Oink!
The spread-- check out the cute cupcake napkins

Game Face
Happy NFL weekend! I'm so excited for the start of football season. BF convinced me that if we upgraded to Sky sports, we'll have access to all the games and we can chose the games that we watch so I would get to see my beloved Eagles. Er...it turns out he lied and you canNOT choose specific games :( Still... I don't mind watching other teams as long as it's not the New England Patriots. Bleech....
Baby Carson is ready for the season! Go Eagles!

Let there be light
BF and I found this amazingly old and hideous lamp in the attic when we were cleaning, and he was ready to throw the thing away. It was a gold floor lamp with a TERRIBLE 70's floral lamp shade. He threw the lamp shade away before I had a chance to take a picture but trust me when I say it was bad- rust color, big flowers....bleech!
I insisted we keep the lamp though cause I knew it had potential, and I was right!
Before

After - Ta Da!

This little project took no time at all. I found matching yellow spray paint at a graffiti paint store downtown and placed one (even-ish) layer of spray paint on the lamp in about 30 minutes total.

Someone call the Landlord!
EKKS! Our shower is broken.
This morning BF informed me sadly right before my turn. I had to BATHE this morning instead of shower. The plumbing is so strange here. Our shower is electric so no hot water or water pressure :(. Our bath whose water is heated from a different source was working thankfully. It was not glamorous or relaxing though cause who has that kind of time in the morning?
But this is our first "home crisis". Where is the landlord when you need them!??!

Mini Project #2
The previous owners left us some nice (and some not so nice) furniture when they moved out. (Remember the teal conservatory set?). Fortunately, the dining room table was lovely although a little bit dated and dirty. With a little bit of work (and some major fabric searches), I've modernised the set to my liking.
The chairs.
Before:

After:

I managed to change all six seat covers in about an hour and a half. I just popped the bottoms out, removed the old covers and stapled the new ones on. Easy peasy (although it took a bit of muscle to get the staples out and the corners were a bit of a b#@$@).
My next little project is that gold floor lamp lurking in the background of this picture which I will hopefully be working on this weekend. Stay tuned for the grand unveiling.
